Peruvian Journalists Shine a Light on Forced Labor and Other Forms of Modern Slavery

Lima (ILO News) – Peruvian journalists are focusing on forced labor and other forms of modern slavery through impactful stories published in various media and formats.

These communication professionals participated in the 2nd edition of the practical workshop for journalists, "Reporting on Forced Labor and Other Forms of Modern Slavery," organized by the ILO as part of the Bridge project. The workshop was based on the belief that journalists can help change public opinion, influence policies, and thereby improve the living conditions of workers.

In the workshop, designed around the ILO's Toolkit "Reporting on Forced Labor and Fair Recruitment", journalists delved into the legal framework and context in which these unacceptable forms of work occur. They shared best practices on investigative journalism and working with sources in vulnerable situations.

Journalists have the ability to shed light on abusive practices and violations of fundamental human rights, as well as to alert readers and viewers about these abuses.
