CARING Gold Mining Project | Convening Actors to Develop and Implement Strategies to Reduce Child Labour and Improve Working Conditions in Artisanal and Small-Scale Gold Mining
The four-year project addressed child labour, decent work deficits, and working conditions in artisanal and small-scale gold mining in the Philippines, with Camarines Norte and South Cotabato as pilot areas, funded by the United States Department of Labor.

Caring Gold: Future without child labour
The ILO addressed child labour, provided education, improved working conditions, and promoted transition to formalization, regulation and legalization of artisanal small-scale gold mining (ASGM) sites in Camarines Norte and South Cotabato in the Philippines.

Funded by United States Department of Labor (USDOL), the CARING Gold Mining Project in the Philippines strengthened policies and enforcement, expanded social protection and livelihoods, improved supply chain monitoring, established global networks, and promoted innovative solutions, contributing to reduced child labour and better working conditions.
The project also supported the regulation and legalization of the Minahang Bayan or the People's Small-Scale Mining Area, partnering with key stakeholders, and coordinating government action.
