• 1. Support wage setting mechanisms

  Supporting evidence-based approaches to set adequate wages, particularly for agricultural workers.

  Intervention results:

  1.1. Minimum wage setting is based on relevant indicators of the needs of workers and their families and economic factors.

  1.2. Social partners use information, including indicators of the needs of workers and their families and economic factors, for meaningful and informed collective bargaining of wages.

  1.3. Improved compliance with minimum wages and bargained wages is promoted.

• 2. Enable wage growth

  Supporting selected enterprises in increasing their capacity to pay higher wages, and independent workers in increasing their capacity to earn higher incomes.

  Intervention results:

  2.1 Economic factors, including productivity, are improved in selected enterprises and among groups of independent workers in agricultural supply chains.

  2.2 Governments, employers and workers’ organizations have a better understanding of the macro factors and institutions that support and enable rising wages and labour incomes.

• 3. Engage with living wage initiatives

  Supporting living wage and living income initiatives to centre around social dialogue and collective bargaining, taking into account the needs of workers and their families as well as economic factors.

  Intervention results:

  3.1. International and national living wage and living income initiatives are informed about the needs of workers and their families, and combine this with an understanding of economic factors in wage determination.

  3.2. Governments, social partners, and other stakeholders are provided with evidence-based tools and global products on how to promote wages and incomes that enable workers in the agricultural sector to afford a decent living standard.
