JobAgri: Better employment and agricultural policies in Africa

JobAgri generates new, high‑quality evidence on the labour content in agri‑food systems to support better, more informed policymaking. This is a join initiative by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (CIRAD), and the African Union Commission (AUC).

About JobAgri

Africa’s predominantly rural population and rapidly evolving urban landscapes make inclusive and sustainable development more urgent than ever. Agri‑food systems employ more than half of the region’s workforce, yet the post‑pandemic recovery — compounded by geopolitical tensions and the impacts of climate change — has slowed progress toward food security and decent job creation.

JobAgri aims to promote decent employment in agri-food systems in Africa in an integrated manner by aligning employment and agricultural policies, based on generating innovative data to better inform such policies and investment.

Unlocking the potential of agri‑food systems to create more and better jobs is essential for Africa’s sustainable and inclusive development. JobAgri supports this transition by providing the evidence and partnerships needed to drive effective change.
