The event aims to foster collaboration on employment and social protection in the context of crisis and fragility, with a special focus on the needs of vulnerable populations, such as women, refugees, and internally displaced persons (IDPs).

The workshop will provide practical insights into implementing the Humanitarian-Development-Peace (HDP) Nexus in the Arab region, particularly in Yemen, Iraq, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine. Key goals include:

• Raising awareness and understanding of the HDP Nexus approach in the region.
• Highlighting the importance of integrating decent work principles and engaging social partners in employment and social protection initiatives.
• Discussing shared principles for programming within the HDP Nexus under various UN strategic frameworks.

The workshop will gather:

• Government officials, trade unions, employers, and business organizations from Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon, Jordan, and Palestine.
• Representatives from UN agencies, NGOs, and international financial institutions involved in the HDP Nexus.
• Development partners supporting the HDP Nexus in the Arab region.

Participants will exchange experiences and lessons learned on:

• Integrating humanitarian cash programming with social protection systems.
• Transitioning short-term livelihood programs into initiatives that promote long-term, peace-responsive employment.
• Adapting the role of employment and social protection within the HDP Nexus framework in the region.
