Meetings of the European Labour Court Judges

Labour disputes—both individual and collective—are an inevitable feature of the world of work. Efficient and accessible labour dispute prevention and resolution systems are essential to strengthening harmonious industrial relations and ensuring access to labour justice for all.

The judiciary is central to resolving labour disputes, enforcing labour laws and implementing international labour standards. While judicial systems vary in structure and procedure, many countries have established specialized labour courts or industrial tribunals to address the unique nature of labour and employment conflicts.

The ILO supports the professional development of labour court judges and staff through training, capacity building, institutional strengthening, and by fostering networks and partnerships. It also facilitates the organization of annual meetings of European Labour Court Judges to discuss shared concerns and examine developments in labour law through key judicial decisions.
