The project “Employment Intensive Investment Programme (EIIP) in Jordan” is funded by German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development BMZ though KfW German Development Bank. The project is targeting the vulnerable Jordanian host communities, with focus on women and people with disabilities in Mafraq, Irbid, Balqa, Amman, Madaba, Ajloun , Jerash, Zarqa & Balqa governorates, through generating 220,000 green working days and providing post-training services and market-based skills training for vulnerable Jordanian and Syrian refugees, in order to improve employability in the labour market.

The programme contributes to the ILO Programme & Budget (2022-2023) Outcome 3: Economic, social, and environmental transitions for full, productive, and freely chosen employment and decent work for all. It also supports the Decent Work Country Programme for Jordan (2018-2022) and the Country Programme Outcome (CPO) JOR109, which focuses on enhancing youth access to employment among Syrian refugees and Jordanian host communities.

Project details

The Employment Intensive Investment Programme (EIIP) aims to improve the livelihoods of refugees and vulnerable host communities in Jordan by creating short-term job opportunities. These employment opportunities help beneficiaries earn income while enhancing their employability through market-driven skills development. The programme emphasizes the inclusion of women and persons with disabilities, who often face additional barriers to employment.

Through these short-term jobs, which will mainly be created in the frame of the National Afforestation Project and of municipal development plans, the Programme will contribute to improved living conditions and sustainable development in terms of increased forest cover in Jordan and in terms of improved municipal infrastructure.
