‘GreenPulse’ webinar series for trainers and teachers launched

On 8 January 2026, Quality Apprenticeship and Lifelong Learning in China Project Phase 2 officially launched a ‘GreenPulse’ webinar series for trainers and teachers. Based on the Guide on Core Skills for the Green Transition developed in 2025, this series provide in-depth instructions of how to enhance green literacy, green thinking, and knowledge of green production and services in vocational training, while sharing good teaching cases from local authorities, enterprises and TVET schools.

Around 140 representatives from the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MOHRSS), project pilot enterprises, TVET schools and local authorities participated in the first Webinar. In the opening remarks, Deputy Director of the ILO Country Office for China and Mongolia, Xiaochu DAI expressed that green transition is not only a global focus but also a key part of China’s 14th and 15th Five-Year Plans for Economic and Social Development. Skills development of workers is of importance during this transition. Core skills for the green transition have gradually become the underlying competence of all industries, creating clear commercial and social value for enterprises and affecting employment opportunities and career prospects of every worker. Through the ‘GreenPulse’ Initiative, the Project is committed to providing an open mutual learning platform to promote practitioners in skills development to jointly think and practice: how to effectively integrate green skills into TVET systems, and how to ensure that all workers can enhance their green literacy and acquire green skills.

Turning green potential into extensive and quality employment and productivity requires our collective efforts to bridge skills gaps and innovate TVET systems.

At the Webinar, the National Project Manager, Xian GUAN introduced the structure and content of the ‘GreenPulse’ capacity building for trainers and teachers and launched the Call for teaching cases on green skills training. The project invites project pilot institutions to share innovative cases to further enrich the Guide on Core Skills for the Green Transition. In the keynote session, Professor Zhiqiang DU from Tianjin Light Industry Vocational Technical College systematically elaborated core skills for the green transition and specifically ‘green literacy’, including green policies, green awareness, green behaviour and green ethics, by demonstrating the training logic, breaking down learning objectives, and using cases from the guide.

The webinar series will continue on 15th and 22nd January 2026, including expert lectures on cultivating green thinking and promoting green production and services. Representatives from TVET schools, enterprises and local bureaux of human resources and social security will be also invited to share good teaching cases.
