Regional Initiative for the Strengthening of Social Dialogue and Collective Labour Relations in Latin America and the Caribbean

Specific objectives

• Knowledge development

  Policies must be applied and grounded on evidence-based approaches to catalyse positive change and promote and secure political engagement and trust among tripartite constituents. Thus, the Initiative seeks to document and analyse collective labour relations models and the state of social dialogue in the region.

• Strengthening institutions for social dialogue and labour dispute prevention and resolution

  Support the establishment and effective work of tripartite social dialogue mechanisms, as well as spaces for the prevention and resolution of labour disputes, facilitating the identification of gaps and challenges in the effective functioning of these spaces.

• Capacity building of constituents on social dialogue, prevention and resolution of labour disputes

  Support capacity building in the areas of social dialogue, labour dispute resolution and industrial relations by promoting, together with the ILO International Training Centre and other institutions in the region, training activities aimed at improving the skills of constituents, especially in collective bargaining and dispute mediation techniques.
