  Organized by the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan in partnership with the ILO and UNDP, this side-event is aligned with Roundtable 1 on decent work and social inclusion and aims to build momentum for integrating decent in recovery processes.

  Grounded in ILO Recommendation No. 205 and the Humanitarian, Development and Peace nexus approach, the dialogue will spotlight scalable interventions and collaborative strategies that promote employment, labour rights, strengthen social protection, and address challenges such as child labour in crisis contexts.

  Drawing on experiences from Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Ukraine, the event will bring together governments, employers, workers, and civil society to co-develop actionable solutions that foster resilience, stability, and sustainable recovery in fragile and crisis-affected settings.

  This session will present evidence-based, integrated approaches to promote formalization of employment, featuring country experiences from Brazil, Colombia, India and Côte d'Ivoire.

  As part of the Second World Summit for Social Development, the Global Accelerator is hosting the Solutions Session, Country-led solutions: Integrating decent jobs and social protection for social development. The event will showcase how combined investments in employment, skills and social protection policies and programs can help achieve the three core objectives of social development (poverty eradication, full and productive employment and decent work for all, and social integration).

• 5 November, 11:30-14:30 (livestreamed) - Global Coalition for Social Justice Forum: Delivering the political declaration through collaboration and action

  Partners of the Global Coalition for Social Justice will present tangible results and new commitments advancing social justice at a Special Event co-convened by the State of Qatar, the Federative Republic of Brazil, the Swiss Confederation and the International Labour Organization (ILO), and during the Second World Summit for Social Development (WSSD2).

  The high-level Global Coalition for Social Justice Forum will convene Heads of State and Government, social partners and senior officials from Coalition partner organizations to showcase and accelerate national and collective efforts to implement the Doha’s Political Declaration on Social Development. The Forum will also underline the role of the Coalition as a platform for mobilizing coordinated, multi-stakeholder action that places decent work and social justice at the core of sustainable development.

• 5 November, 16:45-18:00 – Advancing social development through fundamental principles and rights at work

  Wednesday 5 November | 16:45-18:00 (local time) (Room 3)

  This solution session aims to highlight the contribution of fundamental principles and rights at work to social development and social justice, including through the promotion of decent work for all, the elimination of forced and child labour, the reduction of inequalities and the creation of inclusive economic growth.

  Countries will present their experiences, provide insight into their policies and practices and explain how governments, in collaboration with the social partners advance social development through the implementation of fundamental principles and rights at work.

  Participants will also explore how fundamental principles and rights at work can be scaled up to address major current and emerging challenges.

• 6 November, 10:00-11:15 – Why is tripartite social dialogue key to achieve social development?

  Thursday 6 November | 10:00-11:15 (local time) (Room 3)

  This side event, organized by Norway and co-sponsored by the ILO, Ghana and Colombia, brings the light on the critical role of tripartism and social dialogue to advance social development and social justice.

• 6 November, 13:15-14:30 – Universal social protection for better health, improved resilience and poverty reduction

  This event will explore how social protection systems address interlinkages between the social determinants of health equity and universal health coverage in the context of climate change and other transformations.

• 6 November, 15:00-16:15 – Advancing Living Wages for Social Justice

  Thursday 6 November | 15:00-16:15 (local time) (Room 4)

  This solution session will be held in two parts:
  • Part 1 (this session) focuses on the tripartite agreement on wage policies, including living wages, and the role of wage-setting institutions in advancing living wages for social justice.
  • Part 2, organized as a separate event by the UN Global Compact, will focus on business approaches and experiences in advancing living wages.
