On the eve of the Second World Summit on Social Development, to be held in Doha, Gilbert F. Houngbo, Director-General of the International Labour Organization, calls for joint efforts to renew the commitment made thirty years ago to reduce poverty, promote decent work, and advance social inclusion.

Thirty years ago, the world made a promise to reduce poverty, promote decent work, and advance social inclusion.
We now have a chance to renew that commitment at the Second World Summit for Social Development.
The International Labour Organization will be in Doha to help turn that vision into action – and make sure no one is left behind.
Together with governments, employers and workers, we are working to advance living wages, social protection, safe workplaces, and equal opportunities for all.
We are tackling inequalities, we are building a more inclusive digital economy, and we are supporting just transitions for workers and SMEs in the face of climate and technological change.
