Skills Development and Responsible Business Conduct for Transition in Thailand

Background

The automotive manufacturing sector in Thailand is undergoing significant transformations, largely driven by technological advancements and the shift towards electric and other low-carbon vehicles. Against this backdrop, the Project in Thailand focuses on upgrading workers’ skills for these transitions, while aligning business practices with international labour standards and the United Nations’ Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. As a result, the capacity of Thailand’s automotive manufacturing sector to navigate industry transformations and an environment of business responsibility requirements is strengthened.

Project objectives

• Provide skills development to enhance workers’ responsiveness and productivity for structural transformation to a sustainable economy, including respect for human rights, which is consistent with the country’s development priorities;
• Promote responsible business conduct including corporate activities in harmony with the country’s development priorities and respect for the principles of international labour standards;
• Promote an environment to contribute towards a transition to resilient supply chains from the perspectives of trade and investment.
