This project contributes to improving the living standards of workers and their families by developing living wage estimates and promoting alignment of amfori's living wage initiative with ILO principles, to inform social dialogue and evidence-based wage-setting processes in key sourcing countries of amfori member companies, while ensuring the sustainability of enterprises.
Strategic Framework
Developing living wage estimates in line with ILO principles and providing access to a global wage data hub to support evidence-based wage-setting processes in amfori member sourcing countries.
Intervention results:
1.1. Living wage estimates, developed in line with ILO principles, are available to inform wage-setting processes in intervention countries.
1.2. National constituents and amfori stakeholders use a global wage data hub to access reliable, up-to-date wage data, including living wage estimates and economic factors, to make informed decisions on adequate wages.
Building the capacity of governments and social partners to integrate living wages into national wage-setting mechanisms, including minimum wage systems and collective bargaining frameworks, drawing on wage-related data compiled through this project.
Intervention results:
2.1. Wage-setting institutions are strengthened to operationalize living wages in a nationally anchored and sustainable way, taking into account both workers' and families' needs and economic factors.
2.2. ILO constituents in intervention countries have improved capacity to consider workers' needs alongside economic factors in wage-setting mechanisms.
Engaging ILO constituents, amfori, and its members to harmonize approaches and promote alignment of living wage initiatives with ILO principles, fostering informed social dialogue on wage adequacy.
Intervention results:
3.1.Guidance materials tailored to Amfori's needs are available to support living wage initiatives in adopting ILO principles for estimation and operationalization.
3.2. ILO constituents and living wage initiatives reach shared understanding through conferences, roundtables, and workshops, creating an enabling environment for informed social dialogue on wage adequacy.
