Building resilient funding models for dual vocational education and training (VET) in informal economies

Across many countries, financing for formal technical and vocational education and training still relies heavily on families and the public sector, while micro, small and medium-sized enterprises often lack the resources to invest in skills development. Strengthening dual VET systems therefore requires financing models that are resilient, inclusive, and grounded in strong partnerships between public and private actors.

To advance this discussion, the International Labour Organization and the Donor Committee for dual Vocational Education and Training (DC dVET) initiative are convening the fourth BarCamp on sustainable financing for dual VET in informal economies. The event will provide a collaborative space for policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and development partners to exchange knowledge, share practical experiences, and co-develop solutions that support quality training and smoother transitions to decent work.
