METI Methodology

Export Expansion and Employment Potential

One of METI’s key analyses draws on the Export Potential Map of the International Trade Centre (ITC). This methodology is used to spot untapped export potential at the sectoral and product level and explores new market opportunities for products both within the region and with the EU. Supplemented with employment data from ILOSTAT, the export potential is translated into the opportunity to create jobs and provides estimates of the direct, indirect and induced employment effect in the four partner countries. Wherever possible, these estimates are disaggregated by gender and age.

The results as well as the underlying methodology were presented and validated by the Policy Working Group in each partner country.
