Since Saint Lucia became a member of the ILO on 9th April 1980, the ILO has supported various initiatives in the country, providing technical assistance and capacity building aimed at reducing unemployment, strengthen the national vocational curriculum to provide training for marginalized youth, boosting resilience during crises, targeting child labour, social protection and formalization to achieve decent work for all.

Additionally, as a small island developing state (SIDS), Saint Lucia was one of three countries benefitting from the Caribbean Resilience Project, which aimed to achieve a stronger, more sustainable future that protects against disruptions to productivity and livelihoods as it relates to natural disasters, promoting early recovery, and the greening of the economy.
