What do you want to happen that isn’t happening now?

4 September 2023

The ILO fundamentals branch is focused on ending forced labour and child labour. But achieving that objective in different cultures and systems is going to require different kinds of changes. In some countries, you may need a change in laws. In others, you may need greater investment in enforcement of existing laws. In others, you may need to shift local norms within specific sectors or members of the community. Spend some time thinking about the changes that are necessary to meet this goal, or which part of the problem you want to solve. You likely feel moral and professional pressure to take on all of these things simultaneously. But you will never have enough time, staff or budget to do that. So, it’s critical to identify a narrow, achievable objective that will make the greatest use of the resources available to you.
