This Manual provides a framework for conducting a rapid assessment of trafficking in children for labour and sexual exploitation in Albania, Moldova, Romania, and Ukraine. The research focuses on boys and girls under the age of 18 who have been trafficked or are at risk of being trafficked, both within their countries of origin and across borders.
Developed in collaboration with the FAFO Institute for Applied Social Science (Norway), the manual outlines the research methodology used and describes the process of contracting and training national research institutions in each of the four countries. Through the collection and analysis of both primary and secondary data, the assessments generated valuable insights into the specific dynamics of child trafficking and its impact on the lives of affected children.
The Manual details the conceptual framework, methodology, and procedures necessary to analyse the causes and forms of child trafficking, the recruitment process, the experiences of trafficked children, and the conditions that enable their exit from trafficking and successful rehabilitation.
Annexes include two structured questionnaires (Annex 1) and five interview guidelines (Annex 2), designed to support data collection and ensure consistency across country assessments.
