Start to identify your actors’ habits and design to that
4 September 2023
The ethnographic exploration we ask you to complete in the first phases of story building are key to this phase. Knowing what makes your actors tick, how they normally take in content, how much time they have, how technically fluent they are, etc. can help you from investing in content generation that will not be successful.
The question is not can you develop a certain form for your story, but should you.
Your actor is not a reader? Create a visual or video.
A busy executive or politician? Practically nobody stays up late at night reading a technical report.
How can you develop content that will fit into their schedule and pique their interest?
Go back to your answers in 2.12 of the tool for each of your actors. In the next segment, ask yourself if you’re choosing media that matches with what you know about the habits of the folks you are trying to reach.
