The India–Austria Migration Corridor Analysis supports the India–Austria Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement (MMPA) by offering verified insights on migration pathways, skills, and opportunities for students and workers, highlighting key provisions, policies and resources for stakeholders.
Migration and Mobility Partnership Agreement (MMPAs) cover a range of issues related to the mobility of workers, students/researchers, international apprenticeships, employment opportunities, skills development and recognition, and return and reintegration, among others.
Without prejudice to EU Member States’ competences in the area of labour migration, the Cooperation and Dialogue on Migration and Mobility – Phase II project supports implementation of bilateral migration and mobility agreements that already exist by developing an analysis of Austria-India migration corridors.
India and Austria signed an MMPA in 2023. The India-Austria Migration Corridor Analysis: Trends & Opportunities helps migrant workers access opportunities in the corridor, enables employers to understand existing initiatives, and highlights possible collaboration areas for policy actors.
The analysis compiles verified information and directs readers to up-to-date sources. It covers MMPA provisions, priority sectors from agreements and collaborations, skills-based pathways, initiatives for students/apprentices/skilled workers/professionals, nodal contacts in both countries, and key provisions such as training, post-study options, labour access, family reunification, language/integration programs, and support organizations.
Developed via desk review and consultations, including those with Indian and Austria government counterparts, it offers a credible resource, which is also available in a handy annexure format, covering the most relevant sections of the analysis that can be easily referred to by stakeholders along the migration cycle.
