Well managed migration between the EU and India can be beneficial to the future of both. Europe has labour markets with specific skills gaps, and India has an increasingly educated and skilled population that is looking for opportunities, and is able to meet such demand.Reflecting on this complementarity and opportunity, and recognizing the growing importance of migration and mobility in EU-India relations, the EU-India Common Agenda for Migration and Mobility (CAMM) was endorsed at the EU-India Summit, 30 March 2016, bringing cooperation to a new level. While the two sides have agreed to collaborate on the issues of migration and mobility, a technical project implemented by ILO, ICMPD and ICM will support the CAMM.
Project objective
The specific objective of the project is to support the EU-India High Level Dialogue on Migration and Mobility (HLDMM) and the implementation of the Common Agenda for Migration and Mobility (CAMM).The project will address four pillars of CAMM -
- better organizing legal migration, and fostering well-managed mobility
- preventing and combatting irregular migration, and eradicating trafficking
- maximizing the development impact of migration and mobility
- promoting international protection, and enhancing the external dimension of asylum
Implementing partners
- International Labour Organization (ILO)
- International Centre for Migration and Policy Development (ICMPD)
Local partner
- India Centre for Migration (ICM)
