ILO Leader Programme in Tanzania
The Association of Tanzania Employers (ATE) is part of the LEADER (Leading Employers in Action for Social and Environmental Responsibility) programme. Led by the ILO Bureau for Employers’ Activities (ACT/EMP), the programme works with employer and business membership organizations (EBMOs), strengthening their capacity to support member companies to improve environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. The programme supported ATE to better assist its members in improving their ESG performance.

This national report provides a comprehensive analysis of the ESG landscape in Tanzania, highlighting key findings on awareness, implementation gaps, and sector-specific impacts, while offering strategic recommendations to position the Association of Tanzanian Employers (ATE) as a pivotal actor in promoting ESG compliance and cultural transformation across the business sector.
