Youth-led Road Rehabilitation Builds Resilience in Flood-Affected Sudanese Community

The project JSB Project “Building community resilience with young people of Mayo Suburb Khartoum through improved access to water” has been implemented by ILO through funding from the people of Japan.

The project is an emergency employment response to support people affected by by COVID-19 and unprecedented flooding in 2020. The youth community were trained on rehabilitation of rural road using the Employment-Intensive Investment Programme (EIIP) approach and using “Do-nou” technology.

The project rehabilitated 3.25km road that now help families reach markets and transport water more easily, boosting community resilience after the devastating floods and COVID-19.The road rehabilitation work get direct employment cash for work by 300 youths in applying ILO’s decent works environment.
