Russia Ratifies ILO’s Part-Time Work Convention Ratified
On 2 March, President Vladimir Putin signed the Federal Law “On Ratification of the Convention Concerning Part-Time Work (ILO Convention № 175).” The State Duma passed the Federal Law on February 19, 2016, and it was approved by the Federation Council on 26 February.

The main objective of the Convention is to protect the rights of workers employed part-time concerning the access to employment, working conditions and social security.
Specifically, Article 4 of the Convention provides that the ratifying ILO member state should take action to ensure that workers employed part-time enjoy the same protection as that accorded to comparable full-time workers regarding the right to organize, the right to bargain collectively, the right to act as workers' representatives, the right to occupational safety and health, as well as the rights with regard to discrimination in employment and occupation.
The Convention is subject to ratification in accordance with Article 15 of the Federal Law “On International Treaties of the Russian Federation.”
ILO Conventions enter into force one year after the corresponding instruments of ratification are deposited with the Director-General of the International Labour Organization.
