ILO to publish new report on the profits of forced labour

GENEVA – The International Labour Organization (ILO) is to launch a new report, Profits and Poverty: The Economics of Forced Labour on Tuesday, 20 May.
The study investigates the underlying factors that drive forced labour, of which a major one is illegal profits. Figures will include a breakdown of profits by area of forced labour and by region.
The report will also provide updates to data included in the 2009 Cost of Coercion report, as well as the global estimate of persons in forced labour.
Embargoed electronic copies of the report, executive summary and some associated media material will be made available to journalists upon request, starting on Monday, 19 May, by contacting the ILO Newsroom ([email protected]) or the Department of Communication and Public Information at +4122/799-7912.
