Whilst child labour has nearly halved since 2000, progress has fallen short of what all UN Member States set out to achieve. The world failed to meet Sustainable Development Goal target 8.7 to end child labour by 2025. Today, 138 million children remain in child labour worldwide, including approximately 54 million engaged in hazardous work that directly endangers their health, safety and development.
Hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco, in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO), the Conference will bring together governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations, civil society, international organizations, private sector representatives, academia, and children and young people to accelerate action towards the elimination of child labour.
