The Cooperation Protocol was signed on International Women's Day, 8 March 2024, by Yasser Hassan, Director of the ILO Office for Türkiye, and Tuğrul Arıkan, Managing Director of Anadolu Isuzu, at an event held in Kocaeli with the participation of women working in various positions at Anadolu Isuzu.
ILO’s aim with the protocol is to provide technical support to enterprises through capacity building addressing such key gender equality issues as equal voice and participation, inclusive employment, equal pay for equal work, work-life harmony, and the prevention of violence and harassment in the world of work, thus contributing to the mainstreaming of gender equality in enterprises so that it becomes part of the corporate culture, and to the creation of gender-sensitive and sustainable enterprises.
“The practices and potential transformations in this process will likely be mirrored in other sectors, and will serve as an important step towards achieving social justice."
Tuğrul Arıkan, Managing Director of Anadolu Isuzu, delivering a speech at the ceremony, said: "I believe that this project, which we will carry out in cooperation with the ILO, will make a big difference in reducing the difficulties faced by our women employees throughout their career journeys and in increasing their career opportunities. Through this cooperation, we will put into practice projects that will contribute to strengthening the position of women in the world of work.”
"Ensuring that women have the same rights as men in social and economic life is not only a requirement of social justice, but also a cornerstone of sustainable development. At Anadolu Isuzu, we are excited to be taking these steps in support of the empowerment of women and gender equality one step further. Working hand in hand with all our employees, both men and women, we are committed to raising awareness of gender equality and equal opportunities through our steps in this direction,” said Arıkan.
The “ILO Gender Equality Model for Enterprises” to be implemented at Anadolu Isuzu under the protocol is part of the “More and Better Jobs for Women Programme” conducted by the ILO Office for Türkiye with funding support from Sweden.
