Finale of the Zimbabwe enterPRIZE Job Creation Challenge: 26 & 27 August 2015
On 11 June 2015, the enterPRIZE Challenge was launched.
The Challenge is a business competition for young men and women, who have undertaken vocational and technical skills training through the Skills for Youth Employment and Rural Development Programme. The aim of the Challenge is to enhance the growth of emerging, new and established entrepreneurs that are in the process of setting up a business or already have business they want to expand.
Over 190 proposals have now been received, assessed and put into the nine categories under:
Best Start-up
Best Established Enterprise
Best Woman Entrepreneur
Best Master Craft’s Person
Best Green Business
Most Innovative Business
Best Agriculture Business
Best Manufacturing Business
Best Service Business
A team of judges to cover the various categories has been selected and has undergone some induction to ensure that they are on the same page on the selection of the winners and runners-up in each category.
The first screening and evaluation of project proposals was done internally by ILO staff. The proposals were assessed against the following criteria:
Job creation potential
Growth potential of the business, and
Innovation and sustainability
This second part of the process will involve live presentations from applicants and will enable judges to make a final consideration of the winners and finalists in each category. Competition prizes include cash awards, technology tools and access to business development interventions that can help entrepreneurs gain the skills and knowledge to run their businesses more effectively.
This will take place on the 26th of August 2015, followed by the awards ceremony on the 27th of August 2015.
