Knowledge, attitudes and practices towards migrant workers in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand
This brief compares the results from public surveys carried out in 2023 and 2019 in three countries of destination in South-East Asia concerning public knowledge, attitudes and practices towards migrant workers in Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand.
In the ASEAN region, Malaysia, Singapore and Thailand are the main countries of destination for migrant workers. The ILO has previously conducted surveys in 2011 and in 2019 that measure the attitudes of the public towards migrant workers. The 2023 survey polled n=1,000 members of the public in each country to gauge public knowledge, attitudes and practices towards migrant workers, with a particular focus on women migrant workers.
