Florence Wambui’s story highlights her journey from informal work to a secure job with Kenya’s Ministry of Defence, all through her passion for fashion and the support of the Kenya Youth Employment Opportunities Project (KYEOP). After high school, she worked in informal jobs until discovering KYEOP, where she studied and interned at Baraka Women’s Centre. Here, she trained others in sewing and later embraced Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) certification to validate her skills.

Competing successfully against degree-holders, Florence attributes her career success to her RPL certificate, which has empowered her to break barriers and set higher goals in her field.
