Mr. Gehad Madi was appointed as the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the human rights of migrants in November 2023, following an extensive career in human rights and diplomacy. Previously, he served on the UN Committee on the Rights of the Child (2011–2023), where he provided recommendations on the rights of migrant, refugee, and asylum-seeking children and contributed to joint initiatives with other UN bodies, including drafting General Comments on children's rights in international migration contexts. With a rich diplomatic background, Mr. Madi also held key roles in Egypt’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and represented the country internationally in various capacities.
Ms. Jeanne du Toit
Dr. Jeanne du Toit holds a Master from the University of Cape Town, and a PhD from Stellenbosch University. With early experience at Bush Radio, she actively supports local community radio and fosters curriculum development between the School of JMS and other tertiary institutions in Africa. Her research focuses on journalism education, multilingual learning, podcasting, and service learning. She coordinates courses in audio storytelling, internships, and specializations while supervising MA and PhD students at Rhodes University’s School of Journalism and Media Studies
Mr. Wahyu Dhyatmika
Wahyu Dhyatmika is the CEO of Tempo Digital and was editor in chief of Tempo Magazine, Indonesia until July 2021. He has led groundbreaking investigative projects, including the Panama Papers reporting in Indonesia and the creation of IndonesiaLeaks.id, a whistleblower platform. Wahyu has championed collaborative reporting across Southeast Asia and founded CekFakta.com, a collaborative fact-checking initiative, to combat disinformation. His award-winning investigations have exposed corruption, fraud, and human trafficking, earning accolades such as the Mochtar Lubis Award and recognition from the Alliance of Independent Journalists.
Ms. Gladys Cisneros
Ms. Cisneros is the Chief of the Labour Migration Branch at the International Labour Organization. Previously, she served as Director and Special Adviser on International Labor for the White House’s foreign policy team, where she coordinated labour policy and developed the U.S. Government’s first comprehensive strategy on supporting workers’ rights globally. Ms. Cisneros has extensive experience with the AFL-CIO Solidarity Center, where she was the Director of the Mexico office and Americas Regional Director, overseeing labour advocacy and capacity-building programs. She is an expert in labour migration and holds a master’s degree in Latin American Studies from Georgetown University.
