BEIRUT (ILO News) - In collaboration with the Lebanese Ministry of social affairs and under the EU-funded ENABLE Programme, implemented by the International Labour Organization in partnership with the Lebanese NGO NAHNOO, 10 biking sessions were organized in the Horsh Beirut park in the Lebanese capital. The aim was to promote inclusive access to public spaces and encourage sustainable mobility.

These sessions build on the rehabilitation of a 1.7 km bike lane within the park, developed through employment-intensive approaches that generated short-term job opportunities while enhancing community infrastructure.

Bringing together participants of different ages and backgrounds, the biking activities contributed to promoting healthy lifestyles, encouraging environmentally friendly mobility and supporting the safe and inclusive use of public spaces. They also provided an opportunity to strengthen social cohesion through community engagement in a shared urban environment.

This initiative is part of a broader set of interventions under ENABLE aimed at linking infrastructure development with employment generation, skills development, and community resilience, while ensuring that public spaces like Horsh Beirut remain accessible and vibrant for all.
