Statistical profile of youth not in employment, education or training (NEET) in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

This report presents an in-depth statistical profile of youth not in employment, education, or training in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.

Young Palestinians face among the highest youth NEET rates in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, with significant regional and gender disparities. This report highlights systemic issues contributing to young people's exclusion from the Palestinian labour market, exacerbated by political instability, economic barriers and societal norms. The findings indicate the need for comprehensive, inclusive and collaborative efforts to address high youth NEET rates.

Based on its findings, the report offers recommendations for addressing the high youth NEET rates, focusing on reducing barriers to technical and vocational education and training (TVET), advancing women’s empowerment as a vital step towards enhancing their participation in the labour market, expanding access to technology, implementing active labour market policies, and promoting community service and voluntary work.
