Livelihood and skills training
Skills training for the internally displaced persons (IDPs), Zamboanga City, Western Mindanao
The training was conducted in collaboration with the International Labour Organization (ILO) implementing partners such us the City Government of Zamboanga City (CGZC) through City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWO), Department of Labor and Employment-Public Employment Service Office (DOLE-PESO), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA).
The skills training provided basic skills as a tool and instrument to join the work force developed the significant change in the livelihood component of the government for the displaced people. The significant desire of the IDPs to transform their economic status and continue a life of peace and contribute to the society’s goal of achieving security and harmony by way of economic development of their families as their priority 40 per cent of the total number of recipients belong to the youth sector, while the other remaining figure are adults. Of the total number of trainees, 53 were females and 67 males.
