Regional tripartite social dialogue: The road to the Punta Cana Declaration

This briefing note documents the preparatory process that enabled the adoption of the Punta Cana Declaration at the 20th American Regional Meeting, highlighting the key role of tripartite social dialogue among governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations. Based on a participatory process that included technical meetings, regional coordination and consensus-building, the document presents this experience as a good practice in governance and cooperation in the region. It also describes the mechanisms, structures and methodologies that facilitated the definition of strategic priorities to advance towards a more inclusive, sustainable and socially just future of work, in line with the ILO Strategic Plan 2026–2029.
