PROSPECTS Partnership Egypt: Expanding Hope and Opportunity

This factsheet details how the PROSPECTS Partnership is supporting Egypt’s efforts to strengthen inclusion and resilience amid a sharp rise in refugee arrivals. Since 2023, more than 1.5 million Sudanese have arrived in Egypt, and by September 2025, just over one million refugees and asylum seekers from 62 nationalities were formally registered in the country.

Supported by the Netherlands and implemented by ILO, UNHCR, UNICEF, IFC and the World Bank, PROSPECTS works across four interconnected pillars: Protection and Social Protection, Employment and Livelihoods, Education and Training, and Critical Infrastructure.

These joint efforts have delivered tangible results, including documentation for 701,124 people, mental health and case management support for 322,258 people, education programme completion for 462,454 children, skills training for 464,411 youth, and entrepreneurship and business skills for 148,407 individuals. By investing in national systems and expanding pathways to services, learning and decent work, the Partnership helps restore opportunities, strengthen communities and support long-term resilience in Egypt.
