Labour migration in ASEAN: Analysis from the International Labour Migration Statistics Database in ASEAN

Labour migration is an established feature in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) region and its labour markets. Reliable and comprehensive statistical data is essential to inform evidence-based policy to govern labour migration and protect migrant workers’ rights. To support this, the ILO compiles international labour migration statistics (ILMS) and publishes these in its ILMS Database.

This report is the third in the series of ILMS analytical reports produced by the ILO’s TRIANGLE in ASEAN programme. The report serves to showcase the data contained within the ASEAN ILMS Database and to illustrate labour migration trends and characteristics across the ASEAN region. The report contributes to the knowledge and understanding of labour migration in the region and draws attention to the available data on international labour migration statistics and the gaps therein.
