Child labour in the quarrying industry

A cursory assessment study on the situation of child labour in the quarrying industry

This cursory assessment study is focused on the situation of child labor in the quarrying industry. Quarrying subjects children to manual handling or transport of heavy loads, expose them to work in an unhealthy environment from dust, heat and falling stones.

The cursory assessment focused the study only on quarrying activities that contribute to the construction industry. To tackle the whole mining industry will require more time due to the variations in processes and conditions depending on the type of mineral product. Earlier video documentation is available on the situation of child labour in the mines of Diwalwal in Davao province.
