Prepared under the ILO’s “More and Better Jobs for Women: Phase II” Programme, funded by Sweden, this report examines the effects of flexible working arrangements on gender equality in the labour market. It highlights the potential of flexible work to enhance work-life balance, productivity, and employee satisfaction. However, it also addresses various risks, including wage inequality, career advancement challenges, loss of social security, discrimination, stereotypes, and social isolation, which may impede women’s full and equal participation in the workforce. The study serves as a vital resource for making flexible working models more inclusive in the context of gender equality.
