Strengthening community resilience and fostering peace through decent work

The Savanes region of Togo continues to face armed violence, disrupting local economies and forcing large-scale population displacement. This initiative strengthens the resilience of affected communities by promoting decent work, with a particular focus on women’s and youth organizations—the groups most vulnerable to crisis impacts. It expands economic opportunities for women and young people, including refugees and internally displaced persons, through vocational training, entrepreneurship, and livelihood support. Implemented in close collaboration with UN agencies, local authorities, social partners, and community organizations, the initiative generates livelihood opportunities through employment-intensive investments, equips workers with green skills, and aims to strengthen social cohesion in the Savanes region.

The project is implemented under the ILO Initiative on Decent Work for Peace and advances the application of decent work principles for peacebuilding in line with the HDP Nexus approach.
