Latin America and the Caribbean

The second implementation phase of the project Responsible Business Conduct in Latin America and the Caribbean (CERALC) aims to promote smart, sustainable, and inclusive growth in Latin America and the Caribbean. This will be achieved by supporting responsible business conduct (RBC) practices in line with internationally agreed principles set out in instruments of the UN, the ILO, and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), while also taking into account regulatory developments from the European Union (EU) regarding RBC and due diligence.

The ILO, in particular, bases its work on the Tripartite Declaration of Principles concerning Multinational Enterprises and Social Policy (MNE Declaration), providing guidance to companies, governments, employers, and workers on the labor dimension of RBC.

The project also emphasizes multi-stakeholder partnerships and is coordinated with ongoing initiatives in the countries and the region, including those supported by the EU, to ensure maximum effectiveness.

Below, review the main technical contributions of the ILO in the different areas and topics of RBC, developed together with our constituents and with the support of our development partners.
