Extending social protection coverage to workers in the informal economy in the Lao People's Democratic Republic and Kenya and leveraging digital transformation through South-South Cooperation

The partnership between the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security (MoHRSS) of China and the International Labour Organization (ILO) aims to improve social protection for workers in the informal economy in Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Kenya, and promote the Global Development Initiative agenda focusing on South-South and Triangular Cooperation. This initiative seeks to leverage South-South cooperation to enhance policy design, administrative governance, and operational efficiency in social protection systems in the Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Kenya.

Outputs

• Increased coverage and access to social protection for workers in the informal economy in Lao PDR through enhanced institutional capacity and operational effectiveness and efficiency at all levels by strengthening of the policy design, administrative governance and the digital transformation, with support of South-South Cooperation.
  
• Increased coverage and access to social protection for workers in the informal economy in Kenya through improved social protection delivery systems and services and South-South Cooperation.
  
• Promotion of South-South Cooperation in extending Social Protection within the ASEAN countries and African countries.
