All Hands in Kenya: Advancing Labour Standards Through Cooperative Action

All Hands in Kenya: Advancing Labour Standards through Cooperative Action, is a four-year project that aims at providing technical assistance to projects in Kenya to improve compliance with international labour standards and acceptable conditions of work (ACW), specifically within the tea and textile sectors, and guided by three outcomes:

1. Increased government effectiveness in improving compliance with international labour standards and ACW.
2. Increased employers’ actions to improve compliance with Kenyan laws related to and consistent with those standards and conditions.
3. Increased engagement of civil society organizations including workers’ organizations, with government and employers.

The project targets tea and textile sectors in 14 counties within Kenya. These are:

• Textile: Nairobi, Machakos (Athi River), Mombasa and Kilifi
• Tea: Kisii, Nyamira, Nandi, Kericho, Kiambu, Nyeri, Muranga, Kirinyaga, Meru and Bomet.

Funding is provided by the United States Department of Labor under cooperative agreement number IL-35863-20-75-K. 100% of the total costs of the project or program is financed with federal funds, for a total of 3 million dollars.
