Release of Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) for Cameroon (2021) to Support Employment Impact Assessment

New Cameroon SAM integrates employment indicators to support inclusive economic strategies.

24 June 2025

Cameroon (ILO News) – We are pleased to announce the release of the 2021 Social Accounting Matrix (SAM) for Cameroon, developed by the National Institute of Statistics (INS) with financial and technical support from the International Labour Organization (ILO) under the STRENGTHEN (S2) project. This updated SAM integrates detailed employment-related indicators, specifically designed to support comprehensive impact analyses centered on job creation and labor market performance.

The SAM’s structure was refined through a series of technical working sessions involving INS specialists and ILO experts, ensuring high standards of methodological rigor and accuracy. It was officially validated during an S2 technical workshop held in Yaoundé in January 2025. The resulting SAM will enable policymakers and stakeholders to make informed decisions aimed at fostering decent employment opportunities and supporting sustainable economic growth in Cameroon.
