Just energy transition community of practice for Asia - Advancing labour and social solutions

This Community of Practice (CoP) is part of the ILO's broader efforts to generate and share knowledge in the area of Just Transition. The ILO will support the CoP to identify structures and processes for the continuation of its activities beyond the termination of the IKI JET project.

Background

The project “Innovation Regions for a Just Energy Transition” (IKI-JET) aims at supporting key stakeholders of coal regions to plan for and implement regional just energy transition pathways away from coal and towards a low-carbon energy system, consistent with the Paris Agreement and the ILO Just Transition Guidelines.

In the framework of the IKI-JET project, the ILO, in collaboration with a consortium of international partners, is leading efforts to establish a Community of Practice (CoP) in Asia, focused on policymakers and other stakeholders involved in just energy transition processes. The CoP is designed to facilitate peer-to-peer knowledge exchange, promote collaborative approaches to common challenges, and foster the development of shared resources and practices.

As detailed in the CoP concept note, the CoP will aim at three concrete outcomes. In this regard, the ILO will convene an online virtual consultation workshop to kick-start the co-creation process for this CoP.

Objective

The online consultation workshop will allow participants and ILO technical team in charge of the CoP to:

What expectations, needs and aspirations exist in terms of how the CoP can function and who are the main target users for this infrastructure;
Discuss which channels, modalities and technological are fit-for-purpose, and hence, best suited to promote knowledge sharing; and
What thematic entry points should be prioritized to build capacities of policymakers in partaking and steering a just energy transition.

The consultation workshop will take place via Zoom on Wednesday 18 December 2024 14.00 – 16.00 pm (Jakarta time, (UTC+07:00).

Language

This event will take place in English. It is preferrable that participants have a working knowledge that allows them to partake in the consultation workshop.
