The Department of Labour, Ministry of Labour and Employment in collaboration with the International Agency Working Group for the Elimination of Child Labour in Nepal (IAWG) are coming together to raise a collective voice and action against child labour in Nepal. The IAWG is committed in a consolidated effort to support the Government of Nepal to effectively address the issues by avoiding duplication of efforts and resources.
There will be a mass awareness rally on 12 June 2017, distribution of leaflets on the importance of this day and flyers and posters with commitments towards the common cause.
In Target 8.7, of the UN’s 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, all countries committed to "take immediate and effective measures to eradicate forced labour, end modern slavery and human trafficking and secure the prohibition and elimination of the worst forms of child labour, including recruitment and use of child soldiers, and by 2025 end child labour in all its forms”.
