Training Handbook for Briefing Officers on providing effective pre-departure orientation to migrant workers

This Training Handbook is for Briefing Officers at the Protectorate of Emigrants Offices (Pakistan) who are mandated to provide pre-departure orientation to migrant workers with the aim to prepare them for safe migration to countries of destination, make them aware of their rights, responsibilities, working conditions, potential challenges, support services/grievance mechanisms to seek justice in case of exploitation and deception.

This Training Material was produced by the Global Action to Improve the Recruitment Framework of Labour Migration project (REFRAME), supported by the European Union. The REFRAME project aims at preventing and reducing abusive and fraudulent recruitment practices, and maximizing the protection of migrant workers in the recruitment process and their contribution to development.

The REFRAME Project in Pakistan hosted an intensive training for the Briefing Officers housed at Protectorate of Emigrants Offices, and Country of Destination-specific Facilitation Centers (established by National Vocational Technical Training Commission (NAVTTC)) with the aim to build their capacity in delivering standard and comprehensive pre-departure orientation services to the departing migrant workers. The printed copies of Training Handbooks were handed to the participants as reference material for future use.
