SCREAM - A special module on child labour in agriculture
This publication is a companion module to the SCREAM education pack. It is intended for use by educators to raise awareness among children and youth about child labour in agriculture, in particular the hazards involved, and to promote safe and decent youth employment in the sector.
Agriculture is part of our daily lives, and given the prevalence of child labour in this sector, young people's understanding of this issue is essential. This module helps young people to understand this reality, to identify the risks associated with hazardous work and to recognise the importance of decent work for adults.
It also encourages them to value the essential role of agriculture when it is practised in conditions that are safe and respect human rights.
The module comprises 9 main sessions, with two optional additional sessions:
an introductory session to help understand the importance of agriculture and its impact on our daily lives.
a first part "Where are we?" which explores the reality of child labour and is made up of sessions No. 1 to No. 4.
a second part "Where do we want to go?" focusing on decent work and possible actions and is made up of sessions No. 5 to No. 9.
a third part "Additional sessions" which is made up of optional sessions No. 10 A and No. 10 B.

Most sessions last between 45 and 60 minutes, and some are divided into two parts separated by a recreational break. Some sessions may take place outdoors (field trip, research, community survey). All sessions begin with an introductory ice-breaker activity and end with a fun evaluation. The format is flexible and can be adapted to different educational contexts, both formal and non-formal.
