Training Course on Employment Service Counselling for Training Institutions and Local Officials in Central Viet Nam

The training course aims to provide Skills on Employment Service Counselling to local officials and teachers from vocational schools in Khanh Hoa, Thua Thien- Hue and Quang Nam provinces. Job seekers and fresh graduates in the three provinces will be better counselled on job seeking.

Background

In Vietnam, the tourism sector in Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam provinces generates a high volume of revenue (especially from foreigners), and creates a large number of jobs, but still has huge room for improvement in service quality due to shortage of skilled workers. In addition, many students complain that they are not yet supported in providing good information about the labour market, assisting the job search and providing placement services. As a result, there exists rather large unexpected gap in the skills need and demand in the tourism sector. Consultations with related stakeholders such as Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism (DoCST), Department of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (DoLISA), training institutions, businesses and social partners in the two provinces have shown that it is essential for local government agencies and training institutions to be better equipped with skills on employment service counselling, which will certainly help solve the problem. .

Objectives

A training course on employment service counselling is organized to equip local officers with neccessary and updated related skills. The material used during the training is based on existing ILO’s materials with adaptation to Vietnamese context.

Participants

Participants in the training course are from local employment service centres and employment divisions, from local training institutions and General Directorate of Vocational Training.
