About the ILO in Maldives
The Republic of Maldives joined the ILO in 2009. The most important economic sectors are tourism and fishing, and the majority of the workforce is employed in the fisheries industry. The most important source of migrant labour is Bangladesh, followed by India and Sri Lanka.
